Project Overview
Basis
Rechercher.com uses a commercial perl script to aggregate results from several different search engines and produces a list of 20 results per page. The results are displayed with an indication of a the search engines they were found in. A proprietary relevance algorithm provides a relevancy score out of 100 percent.
Design
Designing was commenced using HTML. The aim of the design itself (regardless of the content) was to be simple, fresh and easy to read. You can see this from the images above. Animated gifs and JavaScript were used in certain places rather than Flash.
Technical
The site is hosted by Gossamer Threads on a dedicated server. The server uses Apache configured for mod_perl and uses extensive mod_rewrite rules. The whole site is dynamically generated.
